Leaving

Collage, encaustic, mixed media on cradled panel
In Leaving, ephemeral layers of wax, pigment, and collage converge into a blurred moment of parting — the moment just before someone vanishes beyond the familiar horizon. A shadowed figure leans forward, dissolving into mist and ochre earth. Beneath the surface, the faint suggestion of wheels and structure evokes ships, carts, or other vessels of exile. This work captures the hush before motion, the silence that clings to places left behind. Leaving reflects the quiet grief of land and self in the face of forced departure.
