Palimpset

Encaustic, cold wax, India ink, gold foil on cradled wood panel
Palimpsest suggests the weathered remnants of an ancient surface—etched, scarred, and burnished by time. Created through layers of cold wax, encaustic paint, India ink, and gold foil, this work evokes the fragmented topography of memory. It conjures an archeological dig, a forgotten map, or the shifting strata of ancestral earth. Faint traces of what once was remain—some obscured, some glinting through with unexpected radiance. Palimpsest explores how longing and loss are embedded in the land, held in the deep textures of place and time. It is a visual excavation of what lies beneath the surface—grief, history, and the shimmer of what endures.
