Cleaving

In Cleaving, a solitary, wind-bent tree clings to a crumbling cliff’s edge — defiant and grieving. The cracked stone beneath it recalls the sharp geometry of famine-scarred terrain. Synthographic imagery layered with encaustic creates an otherworldly depth, suggesting both permanence and fracture. This work imagines the land as a living witness — rooted, watching, and reluctant to release those torn from it. Framed.
