Beauty’s Benediction

Beauty’s Benediction honors the Dine (Navajo) prayer that calls forth a life lived in balance:
“With beauty above me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk.”
This shrine-like sculpture brings that blessing into physical form. A golden arc radiates like a halo, while floral and feathered offerings symbolize vitality, spirit, and renewal. The central light anchors the work as a beacon of harmony, evoking the timeless desire to live encircled by beauty. Through collage layering and assemblage, the piece transforms prayer into presence, inviting the viewer to pause, reflect, and carry beauty within and beyond.
